T20 World Cup 2026: Many thought that Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India would easily get the ticket to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. But in reality it is the opposite.
Calcutta : Now it was thought that Team India under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav will easily get the semi-final ticket. But in reality the picture is different. After being undefeated in the group stage, India suffered a big shock by losing to South Africa by 76 runs in the first match of the Super-8.
This defeat has made the path to the semi-finals very difficult. The equation for the ‘Men in Blue’ has become completely complicated as the net run rate has dipped into the red. That is, the Indian team is now under pressure.
On the other hand, for Pakistan in Group 2, the road to the semi-finals seems clear. How Pakistan, led by captain Salman Ali Agha, can secure a ticket to the semi-finals is a possible equation to analyse.
The T20 World Cup 2026 has two groups in the Super-8 phase.
Group 1– includes India, South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe.
And Group 2is in Pakistan, New Zealand, England And Sri Lanka.
Analyzing the current points table and equation for Group 2, Pakistan have only two small but very important tasks ahead of them.
1. Winning their remaining matches (at least by a large margin).
2️. Taking the net run rate to a positive place and keeping ahead of the rivals.
If these two conditions are met, Pakistan’s semi-final ticket is almost guaranteed. Group 2 is currently on top England. They are number one in the table with a net run rate of +2.550 to win a match.
Pakistan and New Zealand have 1 point each (one of Pakistan’s matches was washed away by rain). Sri Lanka are at the bottom. Pakistan’s first match was abandoned due to rain. Now they have to face England in the second match of Super-8 on February 24. This match could turn out to be a turning point for them.
