New Delhi: DC superhero film ‘The Flash’ has been released recently, which has disappointed at the box office. The film is estimated to have a loss of around Rs 1250 crore, due to which the film has become one of the biggest disasters in the history of cinema, which is being compared to the movie ‘John Carter’ released a decade ago, which is the biggest disaster in the history of cinema.

‘John Carter’ is the most loss-making movie in the cinema world which is based on science fiction. The film is based on the 1930 novel ‘A Princess of Mars’, which is also counted among the most expensive films in the world. According to media reports, the makers spent approximately Rs 2507 crore ($306 million) in making ‘John Carter’.

Between Rs 1229 crore and Rs 1474 crore (150-180 million dollars) were spent on the publicity and marketing of ‘John Carter’, that is, the total expenditure on the film was between Rs 3736 crore to Rs 3982 crore (456-486 million dollars).

The film ‘John Carter’ had earned only Rs 2327 crore ($284 million) from the worldwide box office, which means the film had suffered a huge loss of about Rs 1600 crore. The film proved to be the biggest flop of the year, leaving behind the 2011 comedy film ‘Mars Needs Mom’. The failure of the film affected every artist associated with it.

The film ‘John Carter’ was directed by Andrew Stanton, in which actor Taylor Kitsch is in the lead role. Walt Disney Studios produced the film, due to which its head Rich Rose was forced to resign because he had allotted the entire budget to John Carter. Andrew Stanton started making animation films, while Taylor Kitsch started being cast in supporting roles.
