Star Indian batsman Tilak Verma is slowly making his way towards full fitness. He is joining the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru on Tuesday as he recovers from testicular torsion surgery. With the T20 World Cup ahead, the Indian team and team management are quite cautious about Tilak’s fitness. According to BCCI sources, currently Tilak is not feeling any pain and has started physical exercises regularly.

Due to the injury, Tilak will miss the first three matches of the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer has been included in the team as his replacement for the series starting from Wednesday. Tilak underwent surgery in Rajkot during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. After playing a match against Bengal, he felt pain and after a scan it was decided to undergo surgery. He is currently undergoing fitness test and medical evaluation.

According to a BCCI source, if everything goes well, Tilak can return to the field before the fourth T20I on January 28 in Visakhapatnam. He has already started light training and will soon return to batting and skill practice. The team management does not want to rush, as there are important international tournaments ahead.

Tilak Verma has played an important role in the Indian T20 team in the last one year. He scored 567 runs in 18 innings in 2025 at an average of 47.25 and a strike rate of 129.15. He has become the reliable batsman of the team for consistent performances. So his speedy recovery is a big relief news for India.
