There has been a lot of turmoil in the trade relations between India and America recently. On April 2, 2025, America imposed a reciprocal tariff of 26% on India. Later it was slightly reduced to 25%. In August, America imposed an additional penalty of 25% on India’s purchase of oil from Russia. The total tariff burden increased to 50%. Recently both the countries agreed on an interim trade deal. In this deal, there was a proposal to reduce the tariff to 18% and remove the penalty. But before this agreement could be fully implemented, the Supreme Court’s decision came. Trump also reacted to this decision, but the details are not yet clear.
