US Shutdown News: Due to lack of consensus on the 2026 budget in America, the government has partially shut down. Angered by the firing of immigration agents in Minneapolis, Democrats cut off DHS funding. The vote could not take place in the absence of the House. However, leaders say that the shutdown is temporary and a solution may be found next week.

Washington: The federal government in the US partially shut down on Saturday because the US Congress could not approve the 2026 budget on time. As soon as the midnight deadline passed, funding of many government departments stopped. However, indications from MPs make it clear that this shutdown will not last long and a solution may emerge early next week.
Why is the US budget stuck?
Budget talks were derailed when two protesters were killed in Minneapolis when federal immigration agents opened fire. There is tremendous anger among Democrat MPs regarding this incident. Due to this resentment, a consensus could not be reached on the funding of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Democrats allege that immigration agents are acting overly aggressively and without adequate oversight.
