San Francisco: Three people were killed, while three others were seriously injured in a firing that took place at an ice arena in Pawtucket, America. According to the police, the dead also include the attacker, who shot himself after the incident. The incident occurred at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena, where a hockey program involving students from multiple schools was taking place. At that time, a large number of students and their parents were present in the arena, due to which there was chaos.
According to Xinhua report, preliminary investigation has indicated that the attacker probably targeted members of his own family. A small girl is also included among those who died. The condition of the three people injured by the bullet remains critical and they are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Till now it is not known why the attacker opened fire and what was his motive behind it.

Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves told a press conference that police arrived at the scene as soon as the shooting was reported and cordoned off the entire area. All schools involved in the program have confirmed that all their students are safe and arrangements are being made to be reunited with families. Let us tell you that Pawtucket, located just north of Providence and on the border of Massachusetts state, is a city of about 75,000 people. It is the fourth largest city of the state. Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee said on social media that Rhode Island State Police is taking action in coordination with local police. He said- ‘I pray for all the people affected by this incident.’
Roads closed and surveillance continues
After the incident, the roads around the arena were closed and heavy police force was deployed in the entire area. Monitoring is also being done from helicopter. The incident comes just months after a shooting at Brown University, just a few miles away in Rhode Island. In December, a man opened fire at Brown University’s Baras & Holley Engineering Building in Providence, killing two students and injuring nine.
