Washington: Ever since Donald Trump came to power, he has landed many countries in trouble by issuing contradictory orders under the America First policy. Investors of his country are also suffering no less. Meanwhile, Trump is also trying to create a rift between many allied countries. He tried his best to sour the relations between India and Russia; pressure is being constantly put on India not to buy Russian oil. For this, Trump has placed the gun on Ukraine’s shoulder but the real reason is ‘LNG Trap’, in which he wants to trap India.
Which owl is Trump straightening?
Under this policy, America argues that it is only trying to put pressure on Moscow so that the Russia-Ukraine war can end as soon as possible under economic pressure. However, in a recent interview, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has exposed America. It is clear that America not only wants there to be a rift in India-Russia relations but at the same time it also wants to trap India in an ‘LNG trap’.
Lavrov has directly accused Washington that to establish its economic hegemony, America is taking India away from cheap Russian oil, so that it can sell its expensive American gas (LNG) in the Indian markets. This is not just energy trade, but a ‘vicious diplomatic game’ where America is using the Ukraine crisis for its economic benefits.
America’s LNG trap exposed
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov exposed America in an interview to TV BRICS and said that Washington’s real objective is not peace in Ukraine but to capture global energy routes.
Anchorage Agreement and Cheating: Lavrov revealed that America adopted a double standard in many matters like the peace talks held in Anchorage, Alaska last year. Russia tried to adopt diplomatic routes, but America later turned its back on this agreement and imposed new sanctions on Russia.
Russian oil vs lng
According to media reports, while Russia is giving oil to India at a huge discount of 10 to 15 dollars on Brent crude at around $ 50-55 per barrel, the international market price of America’s LNG and crude is more than $ 65 and due to heavy shipping costs, it proves to be costlier for India by 15-20%.
India’s stand
- Amidst American pressure and Russian allegations, India has kept its position very clear. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has recently clarified that India’s energy policy is not influenced by anyone’s pressure.
- He clearly said that India does not want to depend on any one country. India is a major importer in the oil and gas sector and being a developing economy, it has to ensure the availability of its resources.
- The mainstay of India is cheap and reliable fuel, so that 140 crore people do not have to bear the burden of inflation. Misri clearly said that India’s energy related decisions will continue to be decided in the interest of the country.
