The last nuclear arms control treaty (New START) between America and Russia has expired on 5 February 2026. Since then, President Donald Trump is trying to corner China. Trump wants that no new agreement should be made unless China is included in it. Beijing had completely rejected these allegations of America and called it only a ‘conspiracy to defame’.

Putin’s government is also now openly standing with China, which is a sign that now the world is divided into not two, but three nuclear poles.

What threat did nuclear weapons pose?

Experts believe that if these allegations are true, then it means that the world’s superpowers are now resorting to ‘low-yield’ nuclear tests which are extremely difficult to detect. It is being claimed that if nuclear related treaties are not signed as soon as possible, then the total of more than 11,000 nuclear weapons possessed by Russia and America may again become active.

At present two groups have formed among nuclear experts. One group believes that this is just a war of words, while the other group is afraid that in the absence of treaties, an unbridled ‘nuclear race’ will start. This ‘nuclear brotherhood’ of Russia and China has become the biggest headache for America.
