Responding to rumors that Pakistan may also follow Bangladesh’s lead and pull out of the tournament, Akram said, “Why should Pakistan think of boycotting the T20 World Cup because Bangladesh does not want to play? When has Pakistan cricket benefited because of Bangladesh? What has Bangladesh done for Pakistan cricket? I don’t see any logic in this. Pakistan’s cricketers should focus on their own game and try to win the World Cup.”

Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin said that if Bangladesh decides to pull out of the tournament, the only affected team will be Bangladesh. He also said that there is no reason to worry about security in India.

Azharuddin told ANI, “If they don’t come, it’s their loss. They can’t complain about our security arrangements. Many international matches are going on here, and no team has complained. If they don’t come, it will be their loss, and also their players’ loss. Our country is very safe. All teams are playing. Right now, New Zealand is playing in India, and South Africa played here a few days ago.”

Shanto told a media outlet in Bangladesh, “There is definitely anxiety about the future as a player, because we are in uncertainty. Not only me, everyone is in this uncertainty. I would request those in charge – the cricket board and all concerned, to reach an agreement (on domestic club cricket) so that cricket can continue smoothly.”
