Team India Under Pressure On T20 WC 2026 Semifinal Qualification: All eyes were on the West Indies vs Zimbabwe match on Monday as they were in the same group in the Super Eights. The Caribbean’s monster batting against Zimbabwe increased the pressure on India.
India is already under pressure after losing by a big margin against South Africa. Team India’s next two matches are against Zimbabwe and West Indies. As a result, all Indian fans were watching the West Indies vs Zimbabwe match on Monday as they were in the same group in the Super Eight phase. Perhaps the Indian team is also watching. And the Caribbean’s monster batting against Zimbabwe in Mumbai increased the pressure on India.
Zimbabwe captain Sikander Raja won the toss and decided to bowl first. That decision boomeranged. In the beginning Cy Hope and Brandon King did not get big runs, but Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell played a devastating bat. The power hitting of the two Caribbean stars had no answer for the Zimbabwean bowlers. In the blink of an eye, Hetmyer and Powell built the foundation of West Indies’ big score with a partnership of 122 runs.
Shimron Hetmyer got out after playing an innings of 85 runs from 34 balls. The Caribbean star hit 7 sixes and fours. Rovman Powell did not go short. He played an innings of 59 runs off 35 balls. His innings consisted of 4 fours and 4 sixes. In the end Sherfan Rutherford (31), Romario Shepherd (21) and Jason Holder (13) Mercatori batted to take the team’s score past 250. West Indies scored 254 runs after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Which is the second highest score in the history of T20 World Cup.
With West Indies 254 runs, India had ample reason to mount the pressure. India will not only have to win the next two matches to go to the semis, they will have to win by a big margin. If any other team in the same group wins the match by a huge margin, their run rate will also reach a good place. India are currently at a net run rate of -3.800. If West Ings beat Zimbabwe by a big margin, their run rate will also go well. India’s pressure will increase. But if South Africa win all their matches and India win 2 matches then there will be no run rate story.
