India EU Deal: During Trump’s tenure, there was tension in the relations between EU and America. Trump’s pressure politics is pushing the EU away from America. Trump is trying to force the EU to do trade on his own terms by threatening tariffs. Due to the current situation created by the American President, European countries are looking towards India with hopeful eyes in search of a stable and reliable partner for themselves.
Donald Trump’s policies have distanced Europe from America. (file photo) Washington. The moment of geopolitical explosion has arrived in India-European Union relations. January 27 is no longer just a date but is becoming a day that changes the global balance of power. The possible approval of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and defense cooperation between India and EU is going to give a new direction to the strategic axis of the world. Europe’s restlessness is no longer hidden. America, which Europe considered a security shield and strategic guarantor for decades, has today become synonymous with pressure, threat and uncertainty.
Donald Trump’s aggressive tariff policy and ‘America First’ agenda have directly hit the EU to the wall. America, which created Europe through the Marshall Plan after the Second World War, and the same country which provided security through NATO, today seems bent on making Europe an economic and strategic hostage. Trump’s statements like tariff threats, trade pressure and occupation of Greenland have become a direct warning to Europe.
EU’s patience broken due to Trump’s pressure politics
The EU has now understood that relying on America could be strategic suicide. The policies of the Trump administration have forced Europe to look for a new, stable and reliable global partner and this is where India has emerged as a decisive player.
India: Not a choice, but a compulsion
In today’s world, India has become not just an emerging economy but a pillar of global stability. Democratic values, huge market, strategic independence and balanced foreign policy – all this has made India the only credible alternative to the US for the EU.
Greenland dispute adds fuel to the fire
Trump’s rhetoric regarding Greenland has further inflamed Europe’s concerns. The EU is openly standing against America, but the truth is also that if America retreats, the existing structure of EU and NATO will be completely shaken. This fear is pushing Europe towards India more rapidly.
India is writing a new global equation
Today India is not just making a trade agreement, but is also replacing a crumbling trans-Atlantic relationship. The India-EU deal is a clear indication that the world has now moved out of the unipolar America-centric system and entered the multipolar era.
