Pakistan announced a boycott of the T20 World Cup group-stage match against India on Sunday, February 1. The high-voltage match was scheduled to take place on February 15 in Colombo.
Despite Pakistan’s decision to boycott the match against India, the government of Pakistan has allowed the national team to participate in the World Cup. T20 World Cup will start from February 7. Pakistan will participate in all remaining matches of T20 World Cup. But they will not enter the field in the Group A match against India in Colombo on February 15, that is the official order.
Agha also said that if they have to face India in the knockout stage, their government will be requested again and the instructions will be followed.
“If we have to play India again in the semi-finals or the final, we will have to go back to the government and the PCB and follow their advice,” said captain Salman Ali Agha.
The government of Pakistan has allowed their team to play in the remaining matches of the World Cup. But they have already decided not to play in the Group-A match against India. It is also reported that this decision has been taken to show support to Bangladesh. Bangladesh had earlier requested the ICC to shift every match from India to Sri Lanka. However, the ICC did not agree. Pakistan will start their T20 World Cup campaign against the Netherlands.
