In the first match of the series, Kohli scored 93 runs off 91 balls, but scored only 23 runs off 29 balls in the second match. In the last match at Indore, Kohli played an innings of 124 runs off 108 balls but India failed to chase down the target.
Kohli collected a total of 240 runs in three matches. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma scored 26, 24 and 11 runs respectively in these three matches. His performance is comparatively poor. India lost the series for the first time against New Zealand at home. This result showed that the team still faces some challenges in batting.
These two star cricketers will not play any international matches for India for the next four months. They no longer play T20 Internationals. Besides, the IPL will continue in April and May, so India will not play international matches even then. Kohli will play for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rohit for Mumbai Indians.
India will tour England in July 2026. Five T20Is and three ODIs will be played there. The ODI matches will be played at Birmingham, Cardiff and Lord’s. If Kohli and Rohit still play ODIs, they will feature for the team. Besides, there is possibility of ODI and Test series with Afghanistan in June as per FTP.
After the tour of England, India will play three ODIs against the West Indies at home and three more ODIs on the tour of New Zealand. Also, there are plans to play three ODIs against Sri Lanka in December 2026. These series will be important challenges for Indian cricket.
