Former Indian cricket team player Vinod Kambli is seriously ill, reports say. Many former players including his friend Sachin Tendulkar have extended a helping hand for Kambli. Although Kambli can walk well, his memory is very weak. He can hardly remember things.

Due to poor memory, Kambli forgets that he should not smoke, due to which he may have a brain stroke at any moment, fears a friend of Kambli’s. Kambli’s risk of brain stroke is increasing, he said. A few days ago, the former Indian player recovered from a urinary infection, for which he was treated at a private hospital in Thane.

A WhatsApp group has been created for financial assistance

Kambli’s friend Marcus Kuto told in an interview how a WhatsApp group was created to help him financially. Marcus Couto said, “I have created a WhatsApp group of Kambli’s friends, which includes mostly cricketers. They have given a lot of financial help anonymously. His memory is very weak, the situation has not changed in the last 6 months. He does not remember much, when he remembers, he acts like that.”

Marcus Kuto also said, “Blood has clotted in Vinod’s brain, which cannot be removed now, because he did not pay attention to treatment in the beginning. Doctors said that he might have suffered a stroke. Through his strong will, he is trying everything, fighting.”

Kambli’s friend added, “The doctor (Facem neurosurgeon Adil Chaghla, himself a former cricketer) said that a brain stroke may occur in the later stages. Vinod has given up drinking, but sometimes when he is ill he asks for cigarettes from passers-by and smokes. He also asks for cigarettes from auto drivers and they give them happily. People think they are helping Vinod Kambli. But they don’t know the damage it is doing to Vinod.”
