CAB, the governing body of Bengal cricket, is going to issue a notification seeking applications from those who are interested in becoming the coach of Bengal. Drafting of notification is in final stage. If everything goes well, within a week to ten days, CAB will publish a notification asking for the application form for the post of coach.

CAB has never issued such a notification for the appointment of coaches before. From that point of view, Benazir’s steps have been planned in the history of the company.

Laxmiratan Shukla was the coach of Bengal’s senior team for the last four years. In 2022, he was given the responsibility of the senior team. Sivashankar Pal, Arup Bhattacharya, Charanjit Singhara worked as his assistants. Under the coaching of Lakshmir Ratan, the Bengal team reached the semi-finals in the last Ranji Trophy. According to CAB sources, it is still not final. All will be done by following certain procedures. But it is most likely to see someone new as a coach. The contract with Laxmirathan and his support staff has expired. However, CAB is not dissatisfied with coach Lakshmi. Rather, it is being said that the coach has fulfilled his duty. He will not play in the field! CAB officials are not willing to blame the coach alone if the cricketers fail in big matches. The Indian Cricket Board procedure is being followed in appointing the Bengal coach. The Indian Board also issued a notification like this while appointing the coach of Team India. The applicants are then interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee. Then the name of the coach is finalised.

Candidates must have certain qualifications to apply for the post of Bengal senior team coach. Must have played a certain number of tests, first class matches, or passed level three, must have coaching experience.

It is said from CAB that the process of appointing coaches is being started by issuing a notification in order to maintain transparency. It was heard that not only the senior team, but also the U-23 and other teams will be appointed this way. Wriddhiman Saha was in charge of the under-23 team of Bengal. At one time it was being said that he might be promoted to the senior team. However, all will be done according to certain procedures. So nothing is final. As per the constitution of CAB, the applicants will be interviewed by the selection committee. Then who will be the coach will be finalized.

Who could be the coach, is there a name preliminarily thought of? According to CAB sources, coaches and support staff will be selected from among the applicants. Nothing is premeditated. If any big name applies to become the coach of Bengal, that application will also be considered seriously. It is being said that many people in different parts of the country could not know that the coach of Bengal will be appointed. Now arrangements are being made so that those interested can apply from all parts of the country.

After interviewing the applicants, the assignment will be decided. And CAB President Saurabh Gangopadhyay’s opinion may say the last word in this regard.
