ED arrested DC Shantanu Sinha Biswas of Kolkata Police after about 10 and a half hours of interrogation. The DC of Kolkata Police has been arrested in the case related to Sona Pappu. Notices were sent 5 times by ED. It was alleged that he was not cooperating with the investigation. He was avoiding attendance. Finally DCP went to appear on Thursday. He was arrested that day.

Shantanu Sinha Biswas has also been expelled by Calcutta Police Club. And that too before he was arrested. He represented Calcutta Police Club in CAB, the governing body of cricket in Bengal.

Calcutta Police Club has sent a letter to CAB informing that the membership of Shantanu Sinha Biswas has been revoked from the club. The letter states that the Executive Committee of the Calcutta Police Club met on May 11. It was decided that Shantanu Sinha Biswas will be suspended. Along with this, CAB has been informed that Shantanu Sinha Biswas was the club’s representative in CAB till now but now that too has been dismissed. It is also written in the letter that CAB will be informed if any other representative is chosen by the club.

It was also said that if Shantanu Sinha Biswas was a member of the Apex Council, even if he was arrested, he could not have been removed immediately as per the CAB constitution. The annual general meeting had to be held.
