Ahmedabad: Gujarat Titans’ play-off spot in this year’s IPL (IPL 2026) was already assured with Sunrisers Hyderabad’s win over Chennai Super Kings. CSK’s hopes of reaching the top four were also pretty much over. However, the Yellow Brigade had to win against Gujarat (GT vs CSK) to keep the remaining hope alive. CSK also failed in that match. Gujarat not only beat CSK but won by a historic margin. After scoring 229 runs in the first innings, the Titans bowled out CSK for just 140 runs.

Shubman Gill continued his good form and completed his half century in just 23 balls. Sudarshan is also not one to be left behind, he also crossed the fifty mark in the fifth match in 35 balls. But even though the Titans skipper was out, the Titans’ run rate did not slow down. While Sudarshan was on the one hand, Jos Buttler also attacked from the other side. By the time Ansul Kamboj sent Sudarshan home for 84 runs, Gujarat had crossed the two-hundred mark. Rahul Tewatia was run out on the very next ball. While Gujarat’s opening batsmen got off to a torrid start in the first innings, the Ahmedabad franchise’s bowlers also got off to an impeccable start in the second innings. Mohammad Siraj dismissed Sanju Samson on the first ball of the innings. In his next over, he also showed Ruturaj Gaikwad the way to Sajghar. Two balls later, Siraj completed the dream start with the ball by dismissing Urvil Patel. Matt Short and Karthik Sharma tried to stabilize the innings for Chennai Super Kings, who were on the back foot early on with the loss of three wickets. They were somewhat successful in that work. However, in the sixth and seventh overs, both of them got out and returned to the dressing room. By 63 runs, the semi-yellow brigade were back in the saddle.
In this situation there was no option but to counterattack. Shivam Dubey tries to do just that. Formed a partnership with Dewald Brevis. Dubey looked in devastating form. But Rashid Khan returned him for 47 runs off 17 balls. Brevis also fell prey to him. Ansul Kamboj came down and batted a bit but it was never enough to win. In the end, besides Siraj, Rashid and Kagiso Rabada also took three wickets each to all out CSK. themselves IPL Gill’s Gujarat team won the match by a margin of 89 runs, the highest in history.
