Sandeep Sarkar, Kolkata: After the political change in the state, the scandals of one leader-minister of the former ruling party are coming to light. The police and the administration are taking strict action.

Another former Trinamool (TMC) MLA was arrested on Saturday night. Sujoy Hazra, former Trinamool MLA from Medinipur, is in Jale from Kharagpur. A complaint of land fraud was filed against Sujoy Hazra at Shalboni police station. Sujoy Hazra was arrested on the charge of land fraud. He lost to BJP’s Shankar Kumar Guchait by 38,747 votes in Medinipur constituency in the last assembly polls.

However, as soon as Sujoy Hazra was arrested, the CAB, the governing body of Bengal cricket, started a commotion. Because, Sujoy Hazra is not only the outgoing MLA of Trinamool or the former district president of West Medinipur, he is also the chairman of district coaching committee of CAB. Former Trinamool Congress MLA Asit Majumdar was also in the committee. Asit has already been arrested by the police. This time Sujoy was also arrested. There is no such shameful precedent in the history of the organization that two people are being arrested from a committee of CAB. Sujoy was made the chairman of the District Coaching Committee in the Apex Council meeting which formed the sub-committee after the last annual general meeting of CAB. Asit was a committee member. However, many people are shocked to see Asit’s name is not there in the list that is now available on CAB’s website.

A section of CAB is seething with anger about the way Sujoy came to the last AGM with political influence. The rule is that who will come as a representative from each district organization to the annual general meeting of CAB is decided in the internal meeting of that district organization. The name of the representative should be written in the form sent by CAB and signed by the secretary and president of the district body and submitted. The general practice is that the secretary of the district organization attends the CAB AGM. But last time there was a drama about that.

Sanjit Tarai, Secretary of Midnipur District Sports Association, told the whole incident. He complained to ABB Live Bangla on mobile phone, ‘Last time in our meeting before the annual general meeting of CAB, it was decided that I will represent Medinipur District Sports Association. Fill up the form like that and send it to CAB through the representative at the appointed time. But the head clerk of CAB refused to take it. My representative was returned. Then we met again. Sujoy Hazra said there, the then Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Sujoy will go to CAB AGM, not me. I am forced to come back.’

Sujoy Hazra’s case is a big proof of how much political influence made a difference in CAB’s last annual general meeting, complained a section of the Maidan. But why is a legislator made the chairman of the district coaching committee? Why was another Trinamool MLA of that time kept in the committee? CAB treasurer Sanjay Das said, ‘Whom the district body will send as a representative is up to them. And it is necessary to keep representatives in the committee.’ But the non-cricket people in the district coaching committee in what argument? What does the organization’s constitution say? Sanjay says, ‘Only in the case of the Tour and Fixture Committee, three people who have played 25 first-class matches have to be kept. There is no such rule in the case of any other committee.’

But why were two Trinamool MLAs kept in the district coaching committee? By what criteria? No answer. A former office bearer and member of CAB, however, said in a tone of sharp sarcasm, ‘The yardstick is only one. The one who can manage the vote, rig the CAB AGM, use political influence to favor a particular person will get the prize posting in various committees. And the person who sent to submit the paper as per the rules saying that he will come from Medinipur district sports organization, how did the CAOB worker refuse to take it? This is the job of the electoral officer. If the Electoral Officer wants to reject someone’s form after scrutiny, that is his prerogative. If something like that happens Supreme CourtComplicit in disobeying the order of

District coaching committee chairman arrested, who can be brought to that place? CAB treasurer says, ‘AGM is three months away. It does not seem that anyone else will be brought to the committee before that. which will be after the Annual General Meeting.’
