Another identity of Pranav, he is the son of Bengal cricket legend Pankaj Roy. Shyamal filed a complaint against Pranab under section 70 of the CAB constitution. He has sent a 13-page complaint to the Apex Council. And also referred to a directive of the CAB Ombudsman in 2025.
What is the complaint against Pranab?
The letter states, the physical address of the CAB approved Mohanlal Club is recorded as 57 C, Bagbazar Street, Kolkata – 70003. Allegedly, a non-existent organization in Gouribari area is also mentioned in the name of the same club. According to the instructions of the ombudsman, from 2021 to 2025, that club has embezzled 40 lakh rupees! And in this case Pranab is involved. In all cases, Pranab signed and took the cheque. The check number is also given in the charge sheet.
Pranab is a member of CAB Apex Committee as representative of Indian Cricketers Association. Shyamal Das in the charge sheet requested immediate expulsion of Pranab from the Apex Committee of CAB. He has also appealed to the CAB to order Mohanlal Club to return Rs 40 lakhs, audit and file an FIR on the matter as fraud and cheating.
However, Pranab Roy countered that the whole incident was well-planned. He said, ‘These allegations leveled against me are completely false, baseless and defamatory. My family has a reputation. This is being done to undermine it, humiliate my family and mislead everyone. A well-planned, vindictive and deliberate attempt.’ Pranab also said, ‘I am an ordinary member of the Mohanlal Club. At the time referred to, I did not hold any position in the Mohanlal Club. Many of these allegations are pending in court. So I will not say anything more about this in the press.’
Pranab warned of counter legal action. He said, ‘I have the right to take legal action against those who have accused me. Besides, I will raise the matter to the competent authorities. It is a ploy to shut me up as I am involved in various irregularities in CAB. Attempts are being made to destroy my and my family’s contribution to cricket.
The fact is that a few days ago CAB clashed with Pranab Roy over the celebration of Pankaj Roy’s birthday. Pranab complained that neither he nor anyone in the family was invited to his father’s birthday. CAB claims, they invited. Even more sensational was the allegation of celebrating Pankaj Roy’s birthday with stale flowers. Pranab wrote to CAB asking to see the CCTV footage. However, CAB did not respond. After that incident, Pranab also filed a huge defamation suit against a CAB worker for making personal attacks on social media and posting ugly posts.
