London: Novak Djokovic proved once again why he remains one of tennis’ greatest competitors after all these years. Novak defeated Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the longest match in men’s tennis history at Wimbledon. The owner of 24 Grand Slams left the court with a smile after a marathon fight of 5 hours and 15 minutes. It was a tight fight of five sets in total. The result of the game was 7-6 (10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4) in favor of the Serbian tennis star. In the last four, Novak Djokovic will play against the top seed of the tournament, Jack Sinner.

With this victory, Joker set a record of eight consecutive semi-finals at Wimbledon. Ace gave Roger Federer. After the match, Djokovic said, ‘There was a lot of nerves. I was playing the match with mental toughness. This is the longest match in my career at Wimbledon. I wanted to go out winning the match keeping the feeling of extreme tension that is created in this kind of match. But at the end of this match anyone could have won. To be honest, I still play tennis to be a part of such exciting matches.’

Perhaps even Joker himself did not expect that he would be able to fight so much against the 14-year-old Canadian rival in the match. Earlier, Joker defeated Russian tennis player Roman Sofiullin on his way to the quarter finals. After winning that match, Joker said, ‘I had to win one more match with difficulty. But Roman had a good start. He played very aggressive tennis. It didn’t look very comfortable playing from the back of the court. It was not possible to compete with him in the rally. Roman should be proud of his performance.’ The top seed in the tournament, Jack Sinner, easily cruised to victory in the quarterfinals. He has won 4 Grand Slams in his career. Most importantly, this 24-year-old Italian tennis star is currently ranked No. 1 in the world. So to win against him, Novak must get a little momentum.
