London: History of Indian women in Lord’s Test. The ground, known as the home of cricket, was where the first women’s Test match was played. And in that match Indian team Beat England by 270 runs.
It was the first women’s Test match at Lord’s in its 142-year history, which the Indian women’s team created history by winning. Hosts England were set a target of 457 runs in the fourth innings, but the English team was bowled out for 186 runs.
After taking a huge lead of 115 runs in the first innings, Team India declared for 341 runs in the second innings. Chasing a target of 457 runs, England’s defeat was virtually assured on the third day. Because their 5 wickets fell for just 59 runs. Amy Jones and Sophie Ecclestone scored half-centuries to keep England’s hopes alive. But in the end the whole team was bundled out for 186 runs.
Team India’s first innings ended on 285 runs. In reply, England’s first innings was reduced to just 170 runs. Team India jumped out to a big lead and declared the second innings at 341 runs. Kranti Gowda took 7 wickets and Sneh Rana took 6 wickets in this whole match for India.
The power of Kranti and Yastika
Kranti Gowda and Yastika Bhatia were the biggest contributors to this historic win for India. Kranti Gaur took 5 wickets in the first innings. She is the first woman cricketer to take five wickets in a Test match at Lord’s. Yastika Bhatia played a blistering innings of 113 runs in the second innings for Team India who took a lead of 115 runs. It was the first century of her international career and also the first century in a women’s Test match at Lord’s.
The girls of India took revenge
At the moment, the Indian men’s team is also on a tour of England. Shreyas Iyer-led team India lost the T20 series 0-4. However, the Indian girls avenged the loss of the men’s team by winning the first Test match at Lord’s by 270 runs.

The ‘historic’ victory came after 142 years
The first cricket match was played at Lord’s ground in 1884. 142 years after the match between Australia and England men’s team, a women’s Test match was played at Lord’s.
