New Delhi: A protest is going on at Jantar Mantar (CJP Protest) demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after the leak of NET question paper and improvement of the education system. Prominent social and environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk is sitting on hunger strike there. Gradually his condition is deteriorating, his weight is also decreasing. Personalities from different walks of life have expressed concern over Sonam Wangchuk’s health. The Indian star cricketer’s sister is also included in that list.

We are talking about Malti Chahar, sister of Deepak Chahar and Rahul Chahar. He is well known and popular in Indian cricket circles due to social media. That Malti Chahar stood next to Sonam Wangchuck and requested to solve the problem. He wrote on his social media, ‘I stand by Sonam Wangchuk and hope that a peaceful, proper and meaningful solution to the various problems of Ladakh and the education sector will emerge through dialogue and democratic means. I hope that his hunger strike ends soon and that everyone can work together to find a constructive and long-term solution. Wishing her (Sonam) strength, good health and speedy recovery.’

While not directly indicting anyone, Malti’s emotional message of standing by Sonam expressing concern over her hunger strike touched everyone’s heart.

However, today, after 21 days of hunger strike, Wangchuk was removed from Jantarmantar and taken to Safdarjung Hospital by the Delhi Police. Delhi Police claimed that Sonam Wangchuk’s physical condition was rapidly deteriorating during the hunger strike. He lost more than 9 kg in the last few days. He was admitted to the hospital following the advice of the doctors and the court order.

The Delhi Police in their X (X) handle said that the Delhi High Court had ordered to take necessary measures considering the physical condition of Sonam Wangchuk. Following that order, he was taken to Safdarjung Hospital from Jantarmantar. Sonam Wangchuk was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital at 7:40 am today. Later doctors saw him at the hospital. Do the necessary tests. The hospital then issued a statement saying that he had become weak due to prolonged starvation and dehydration. However, his condition is currently stable.
