Mumbai: Great performance in T20 series against Zimbabwe. Is Vaibhav Suryavanshi going to enter the national team in one day format? Discussions about the 15-year-old opener from Bihar have already started. At the moment Rahit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill are opening for the national team in the one day format. But legendary former Indian cricketer Farooq Engineer feels that Vaibhav Suryavanshi should be played in the open with Rohit keeping in mind next year’s World Cup. The former wicket-keeper batsman also suggested Gill move down the batting order.

Drawing the attention of the BCCI selectors and Ajit Agarkar, the engineer told news agency PTI, “Gill is an exceptional player. I think he should make himself fit to bat at the number four position. Vaibhav Asuk with Rohit in ODI format. Gill is not the kind of player who bats in a frenzy from the first ball. In that case Rohit If he plays in the open, then Vaibhav will actually see a left-right combination.’

Praising Suryavanshi, the engineer further said, ‘Having a batsman like Vaibhav in the team is very significant. He knows how to fill the various gaps in the field. Let Virat Kohli bat at number three and Gill at number four.’

The way Vaibhav batted against Zimbabwe in the T20 series, the engineer feels that he is ready for the ODI format as well. In his words, ‘This is hopefully the best time to play Vaibhav in the ODI format. Let him be promoted in one day format as well. I don’t know why people find a big difference between ODI and T20 formats. In the rhythm that Vaibhav is in, he will give his best performance in the ODI format as well. Vaibhav has learned from his mistakes. The way the sixes hit the field is truly a sight to behold. One of the wealth of India.

Despite failing in two series, Vaibhavai scored a total of 151 runs in the entire series, including the team’s highest 81 runs in the third T20 against Zimbabwe. Two fifties in three matches at Paymont Harare came from the bat of the Indian opener. Series Pockete Pure Vaibhav can be heard saying at the award ceremony, ‘It feels good. The practice I did in Harare for two or three days was also very good. I also played in the U-19 World Cup here, I enjoy playing on this ground. From the captain to the coach, everyone was by my side. So I am very happy.’
