New Delhi: The Indian Womens Hockey Team narrowly missed out on a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. They took fourth place. But despite not winning a medal, the fierce fight of the women’s hockey players touched the hearts of the entire Indian people. However, the Indian women’s hockey team did not qualify for the Paris Olympics. However, the team’s former captain and experienced goalkeeper Savita Punia (Savita Punia) Indian teamHe highlighted the future goals and what steps the team has taken for it.
The Olympics will be held in Los Angeles in 2028. Savita says, ‘In 2028, the next Olympics will be held in Los Angeles. The entire Indian women’s hockey team and all team members abstained from eating sweets, chocolates and fast food until the Olympics. They have sworn, they will not do such a thing.’
Savita also said, ‘We started such a diet plan before the Tokyo Olympics under the instructions of Wayne Lombard, the team’s strength and conditioning coach. The first condition was that we had to stop eating sugar altogether. Also any fast food, junk food, chocolate, sweets should be avoided. That rule is still strictly followed.’
Savita also gave an example of how determined the girls are to obey the rules. He said that a cake was brought to the team hotel after the FIH Hockey Nations Cup win on New Zealand soil. But the cake was not cut because no one would eat it. Savita feels that all these sacrifices have made each player stronger mentally. He said giving up favorite foods, being away from family and continuing to practice despite physical hardships motivates players mentally to perform better. These sacrifices remind them how hard they are working for the country.’
Savita, who has played 300 international matches for the country, also says, ‘Our bird’s eye is now on the World Cup. Every match is very important. We want to progress every match. England and China are very strong teams. We have to keep our defense tighter.’
