Maybe you don’t need an AI smart ring to keep track of your to-dos DoistThe company behind Todoist, a popular to-do list app that works across multiple devices, is launching its new AI-powered, “voice-to-task” feature: The Todoist Ramble. The feature lets you describe your tasks using natural language.
True to its name, Ramble can take your rambling, disorganized speech and turn it into organized work. The app will also capture other details you specify, such as project deadlines, priorities, durations, and assignees.

The idea is that people often think about things they need to do while on the go, but pulling out their phone to jot down a note or create a reminder can be challenging. With Todoist Ramble, you still have to pull out your phone, but you don’t have to type anything. Instead, you just tap the Ramble icon and start talking. The app will then update in real time with task information, even responding to edits and changes as you speak.
For example, the company notes that you can say “Actually, make it Thursday” or “That’s all” as you speak to direct the AI further.
Ramble is built on large language models (LLMs) as part of a set of AI features that the company calls Todoist Helpwhich runs on Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Live model with Vertex AI for real-time speech understanding. As the audio streams to the back end, the model transcribes your speech and identifies the tasks, dates, and other details you mention to create your tasks.
The audio is not stored or used for AI training and the app is SOC2 Type II certified, says the company, Doist.

AI functionality is similar to what we see emerging across various hardware AI devices that convert speech into notes, reminders, to-dos or insights. For example, Amazon’s Bee wearable device uses AI To take notes and make suggested to-dos, while on other devices, such as those from PlaudBreak out the meeting to take notes and highlight.
There is also growing interest in AI-powered smart rings, From startup sandbars to stream rings, or Pebble’s upcoming index 01 ring. Both let you press the ring (which is worn on the index finger) to add something to your to-do list or create a note in a companion mobile app.
Before launch, Ramble was beta tested with all Todoist Experimental users, a group of about 150,000 active testers who try new features early. During the first three weeks of testing, nearly 76,000 testers completed nearly 290,000 Ramble sessions on desktop and mobile. The feature then entered public beta testing in November.
Task creation success has also improved from around 40% this past October to around 62% by December and has been upgraded, Doist claims. New users on the entry-level plan are upgrading at a rate nearly five times higher than before using Ramble, it said.
Todoist Ramble is available to all users across iOS, Android, desktop and web starting today and supports 38 languages. Beginner plan users can also access the feature, but with limited sessions per month. Pro and Business paid plans offer unlimited sessions. For easy access, the feature can be accessed via home screen or lock screen shortcuts on iOS and via app shortcuts, widgets and quick settings tiles on Android.
