Washington: Trump has once again used tariffs as a weapon. The US President has gone after Greenland with all his might. They have to capture the world’s largest island but the European countries are standing as a wall in between. Trump had already issued a warning and now he has thrown a tariff bomb on 8 European countries. Trump has announced to impose 10 percent extra tariff on his allies only. Not paid even after imposing 10% tariff, further threat

Trump has announced that from February 1, 2026, there will be a 10% tariff on all goods coming from 8 countries. This list includes Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Britain, Netherlands and Finland. Along with this, Trump has also issued a warning that if an agreement is not reached on Greenland soon, then this tariff will be increased to 25% from June 1, 2026.

‘Denmark’s Payback Time’

While imposing tariffs on European countries, Trump has said that ‘We have been trying to buy Greenland for the last 150 years, but now the dam of patience has broken’. He wrote on social media- ‘Denmark and Europe have taken free advantage of America’s security for decades. Now the time has come for Denmark to ‘payback’ and give us the ownership rights of Greenland.

What greed is Trump surrounded by?

Trump is occupying Greenland by saying that it is a matter of security, he claims that if America does not take Greenland, then Russia or China will occupy it. But in reality, Trump is following his business mind because the world’s largest island is a treasure trove of rare earth minerals. There are huge reserves of rare minerals like cobalt, lithium and graphite here. After capturing here, Trump wants to fill his coffers with this treasure.
