Team management worried about all-rounder Jadeja’s form. On Saturday, Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj confidently said that Jadeja will return to the rhythm very soon. Siraj said, only one wicket is enough for Jadeja to return to his best form.
Jadeja was wicketless in the first two ODIs against New Zealand in the current series. His bowling contribution in the last two matches – 0/44 and 0/56. Before that, he took just one wicket in the three-match series against South Africa. “I don’t think there is any worry about Jadeja’s form. It’s just a matter of one wicket. Once you get that wicket, you see a completely different bowler,” Siraj said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
Jadeja has been reliable at times for India. Has taken nearly 2,900 runs and 232 wickets in 209 ODIs, averaging just over 32. Siraj said the bowling unit was confident despite being under pressure in the second ODI, where New Zealand leveled the series due to some missed chances. Siraj said, “We played very well in both the matches. In the first ODI, both our bowling and batting were good. In the second match, wickets fell early but KL Rahul batted well and Nitish Reddy also contributed.”
Daryl Mitchell took the match away from India in the second match. Siraj said, “There were chances. When the catch fell, if we could have taken that chance, the result could have been different. World-class batsmen don’t give many chances, and once they get it, they take advantage of it.”
