US President Donald Trump is attacking drug boats in the Caribbean to stop the drug trade. But a new type of drug is currently spreading in America. A new drug is rapidly spreading in the nightclubs and parties of America, whose name may sound innocent, but its effect is very dangerous. It is being called pink cocaine, whereas the reality is that it often does not contain cocaine. If there is an overdose, it becomes poison and the person turns blue. This is what makes it more deadly. According to the report of Axios, the concern of health officials and investigative agencies has increased because there is no definite identity or formula for pink cocaine. Every batch is different and the effect of intoxication can change in every pot. Sometimes it may seem mild, and sometimes it can directly take life.

What is pink drug?

Actually, pink cocaine is a polydrug, that is, a dangerous mixture of many types of drugs. In the investigation, most of the substances found in it were Ketamine and MDMA i.e. Ecstasy. In many cases, deadly substances like methamphetamine, opioids and even fentanyl have been found in it. Chemical dye is added to give it pink color, so that it looks different and attractive. Due to this uncertainty, the risk of overdose increases manifold. The addict thinks that he is taking a mild psychedelic or stimulant, but as soon as it reaches the body, it can have serious effects on the heart, brain and breathing process.

Pink cocaine is poison, not drugs.

Cases related to pink cocaine have been reported in many big cities of America in recent months. Agencies from Los Angeles to Miami have conducted raids and issued warnings. Dozens of weapons along with pink cocaine were seized in a smuggling case in New York during 2025. The drug was also found during a raid on an underground nightclub in Colorado Springs. The Miami Dade Medical Examiner’s report shows that between September 2020 and July 2024, several deaths were found to be linked to pink cocaine. According to poison control centers, at least 18 cases have been reported in four states since the beginning of 2024, most of which had to be hospitalized.

Where did pink cocaine come from?

This drug is considered to have originated in Colombia, where it was introduced as a club and party drug. There, it was called Tussi, inspired by a psychedelic drug called 2C, and pink became the branding color. Gradually this idea spread from Latin America to America and Europe. Experts say that pink cocaine has become not just a drug but a concept. Smugglers do not need any fixed supply to prepare it. A new batch is made by mixing whatever drugs are available. The pink color makes it visible on social media and from here its publicity spreads.

How does pink cocaine become deadly?

The danger is also that there is no direct treatment or antidote for pink cocaine. Doctors and first responders can only support the patient until the drug is removed from the body. Sometimes it becomes difficult to save life. Now this addiction is not limited only to big cities. Its cases have started appearing in rural areas of America also. Officials in states like Louisiana have warned that pink cocaine is being linked to fatal overdoses.
