US President Donald Trump is supporting the ongoing protests in Iran. But he is silent on the ongoing protests in his own country. In the American state of California, anger against Immigration and Customs Enforcement i.e. ICE is clearly visible on the streets. Thousands of people joined together in protests from the capital Sacramento to Sonora city and from San Francisco to Los Angeles. These demonstrations made it clear that deep dissatisfaction is increasing among the common people regarding the immigration agency. These demonstrations were named ‘ICE Out for Good’. The event was organized jointly by many social organizations. These included organizations like American Civil Liberties Union and 50501 Movement.

How is the performance?

Organizers say that ICE’s actions are no longer limited to law enforcement, but have become a symbol of fear and violence. About 500 people gathered outside City Hall in the city of Pasadena, located near Los Angeles. The protesters registered their protest by blowing car horns and clapping. People were loudly shouting slogans – ‘No ICE, No KKK, No Fascist America’. The atmosphere was full of anger and resentment, but people were expressing their views peacefully.

Why are the demonstrations taking place?

In a statement issued by the 50501 Movement on Friday, it was claimed that so far in the year 2025, at least 32 people have died in ICE custody. The organization says that these deaths raise serious questions on the functioning of the agency. These demonstrations on Saturday became more intense after two recent incidents. The first incident is from Minneapolis, where a federal officer shot Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, killing her. The second incident took place in Portland city of Oregon, where an officer opened fire and injured two people. These incidents further incited anger across the country.
