If your Gmail account doesn’t seem to be working properly on Saturday, you’re not alone. But Google says the problem has been solved.

D Official Status Dashboard Google Workspace advises that the issues began around 5 a.m. Pacific on Saturday, with users experiencing both “misclassification of emails in their inboxes and additional spam alerts.”

For me, this meant my primary inbox was full of messages that would normally appear in the Promotions, Social, or Updates inbox, and spam warnings were appearing on emails from known senders. Other users have complained on social media “All spam goes straight to my inbox” And that seems to be Gmail’s filter “Suddenly collapsed completely.”

The Google dashboard was updated throughout the day Saturday with messages that the company was still working to fix the problem. Later Saturday evening, Google posted that the issue had been “fully resolved for all users.”

“Some Gmail users have experienced misclassification of emails in their inboxes, causing delays in receiving emails,” the company said in a dashboard update. “Additionally, misclassified spam alerts from the incident may persist for existing messages received before the issue was resolved.”

The agency also said it would “release an analysis of this incident after we complete our internal investigation.”
