Articles: New Delhi. Indian women’s cricket team pacer Renuka Singh has created an embarrassing record in the Women’s Premier League. Renuka Singh became the highest run bowler in the first over of an innings in a WPL match. Playing for Gujarat giants this season, Renuka bowled the first over in the match against Royal challengers bengaluru, where he scored 23 runs. This is the first time a bowler has scored more than 20 runs in the first over of an innings in a WPL match.

Gujarat giants won the toss and elected to bowl in the ninth match of the season at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Nabi Mumbai. Captain Ashley Gardner handed over the first over to Renuka Singh. The over gets off to a bad start, as Renuka gives a wide on the first ball, which goes for a four. Then RCB’s opener Grace Harris hit four fours in the over. Renuka bowls two more wides in the over, resulting in a total of 23 runs. Before Renuka, Shabnam Ismail held the record for most runs in the first over of an innings in a WPL match. He gave away 20 runs in one match in 2023.
