New Delhi. US President Donald Trump has sent a congratulatory message on India’s 77th Republic Day. In this message that came amidst huge tension and ‘tariff war’, Trump has described the relations between the two countries as historic. He said that being the oldest and largest democracy in the world, we share a special bond. This greeting has come at a time when Trump has imposed 50% tax on Indian goods and 25% tax on Russian oil purchases. Despite this, Trump has congratulated the Indian government and the public. The US Embassy in New Delhi has released this message on social media. Foreign Minister Marco Rubio has also congratulated India on this occasion.

This message of Trump has come amidst the ongoing tension between the two countries. President Trump had recently imposed 50% duty on Indian goods. Apart from this, a punitive duty of 25% has also been imposed on purchasing Russian oil. Not only tax, India is also troubled by America’s new ‘Immigration Policy’. Last year, Trump had also claimed to end the India-Pakistan conflict. Despite all this bitterness, Trump has congratulated him following diplomatic etiquette.

The roar of American planes on the path of duty
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore participated in the Republic Day parade. He expressed happiness on seeing American planes on the duty path. The Ambassador described it as a symbol of the US-India strategic partnership. The American-made C-130J transport aircraft was included in the parade. Apache helicopter also showed its power in the sky. The Ambassador said that he felt honored to participate in the parade.

Rubio said- We are necessary for Indo-Pacific
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also talked about the ‘historic connection’ with India. He said that our cooperation in defence, energy and technology is deep. Referring to ‘Quad’, Rubio said that our partnership is important for the Indo-Pacific region. He said that both the countries will work together to achieve common objectives. America considers India a major partner, despite differences on trade issues.
