According to police sources, the accident took place near Puneet Nagar Society in Akota area at around 2:30 PM. Jacob Martin lost control of the car and rammed three cars parked in front of a house. However, no one was injured in the incident, police said. The police took action based on the complaint of the owners of the affected vehicles.

Following the incident, a case was registered against Martin under the Indian Penal Code for driving under the influence of alcohol at the Akota police station. Police seized his MG Hector car. Notably, he has been embroiled in controversy before. In 2011, he was arrested by the Delhi Police on charges of human trafficking.
Jacob Martin’s international cricket career was not very successful. He made his ODI debut for India against West Indies in 1999. He managed to score only 158 runs in a total of 10 ODIs. But his performance in domestic cricket was commendable. He scored 9,192 runs in 138 first-class matches and 2,948 runs in 101 List A matches.
