Kanmari area belonging to Sandeshkhali block number one has already started to be known for women’s football. Several girls here have participated in various state and district tournaments and performed well. However, due to lack of proper training and infrastructure, there was a risk of losing a lot of talent. Entrepreneurs said that this coaching center has been launched to eliminate that shortage.

This coaching center will provide football training to the girls of the area completely free of charge using modern methods. Besides, all the necessary sports equipment including football, jersey, boots will also be provided free of charge. According to the entrepreneurs, women footballers from different parts of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar also come here for training at certain times of the year, which adds to the importance of this centre.

Sandeshkhali MLA Sukumar Mahato said at the inauguration, “Girls of Sundarbans have tremendous talent. Given the right opportunities and training, they will brighten the face of the state and the country.” Local residents and parents are also happy with this initiative. They hope that this coaching center will boost the confidence of the girls of Sundarbans and open doors to new possibilities in the field of sports.
