Now Ireland have shared yet another social media post to clearly rule out playing in the World Cup. A lengthy post from the Ireland Cricket Board’s official Twitter(x) handle used jokes and sarcastic language to announce Ireland’s exclusion from the World Cup.

They wrote, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we are not available to take Pakistan’s place in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Whether they withdraw now or not. The tournament is so short, it is impossible for us to prepare professionally for this event in such a short time. We are not like Scotland who can turn up at will without a kit sponsor!”

They also wrote, “Our players come from different professional backgrounds. They cannot fly to the other side of the world to play their professional cricket. Our captain is a professional baker—he has to manage his own oven. Our ship’s captain has to steer the ship, and our bankers have to go bankrupt (again). This is the brutal reality of amateur cricket.”
