AYUSH is a group of many medical systems of India.AYUSH Full Form and Benefits: Many types of medical systems have been adopted for the treatment of diseases in India for centuries. Among these, Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy are prominent. The health sector on which the Government of India has been giving maximum emphasis for the last several years is AYUSH. It is repeatedly mentioned in budgets, health schemes and international forums, but the surprising thing is that many people still do not know what AYUSH is and what is its full form. AYUSH is not just a method of treatment, but an organized and modern form of India’s age-old medical traditions, which the government is now taking forward in the direction of gaining global recognition.
The full form of AYUSH is Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. All these treatment methods are based on the principle of being natural, holistic and working on the root of the disease. Ayurveda emphasizes the balance of body, mind and spirit. Yoga and Naturopathy promote lifestyle changes and enhance the natural healing capacity of the body. Unani and Siddha medicine are based on traditional herbs and minerals, while homeopathy works on the principle of minimum treatment.
The government’s focus on AYUSH has also increased because lifestyle related diseases are increasing rapidly in today’s fast-paced life. The role of AYUSH methods is being considered very effective in diabetes, obesity, stress, high blood pressure and mental health problems. In these methods, along with treatment, priority is given to disease prevention and healthy lifestyle, which are also becoming an important complement to modern medicine. To strengthen AYUSH, the government had formed a separate Ministry of AYUSH in 2014. AYUSH colleges, hospitals, research centers and pharmacies are being promoted across the country. Apart from this, special attention is also being given to the quality, research and standardization of Ayurvedic and AYUSH medicines.
The government’s strategy is not limited to the country alone. International cooperation, research and exports are being promoted to establish AYUSH as a global brand. Global demand for Ayurvedic medicines, herbs, yoga and wellness tourism is increasing rapidly. India is now presenting traditional medicine to the world with scientific basis and international standards. AYUSH is a strong bridge between India’s medical heritage and modern health needs. The increasing focus of the government on AYUSH is an indication that in the coming times, this sector is going to become an important pillar of employment, research and economic development along with health.
