Washington: In many parts of America, the situation has worsened due to heavy snowfall and severe cold due to Bomb Cyclone. Record snow fell in North Carolina and thousands of flights had to be canceled. Road accidents have increased due to the storm, traffic came to a standstill and at least two people died. Florida, which is usually warm, also got hit by record cold this time, where due to the cold, iguanas, a species of chameleon living on trees, were seen becoming numb and falling down. Local TV channels even described this situation as ‘rain of iguanas’. On February 1, the temperature dropped below zero in many areas of Florida.
Lowest temperature after 100 years
The mercury in Orlando fell to minus 4 degrees Celsius, which is considered to be the lowest temperature in February since 1923. That means the temperature here has dropped the lowest after 100 years. Generally the minimum temperature here at this time remains around 12 degrees and maximum 23 degrees. Due to the cold, the cold-blooded creatures iguanas became numb on the trees and started falling down. In the video viral on social media, iguanas were seen lying on the roads and footpaths. Jessica Kilgore, who works on removing iguanas, said that she has collected hundreds of kilos of iguanas during this cold, many of which were dead. In view of the situation, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has issued an emergency order allowing people to pick up the iguanas and take them to government offices.

The biggest impact was seen in North Carolina, where snow usually does not fall except in the mountainous areas. About 40 cm of snow accumulated in the city of Lexington and up to 56 cm in the Faust area of the Walnut Mountains. State Governor Josh Stein said that between January 31 and February 1, there were about 1,000 road accidents, in which two people died. People have been appealed to stay at home and beware of the symptoms of frostbite.
