Jaishankar US Visit: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is going to America on a three-day visit. He will participate in the Critical Minerals Ministerial Meeting called by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Supply chain, clean energy and strategic cooperation will be discussed in the meeting.

New Delhi: Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is going to visit America for three days, which is going to give further impetus to the relations between the two countries. According to the information shared by the Ministry of External Affairs, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will go on a three-day visit to America on Monday. He will participate in the Critical Minerals Ministerial Meeting called by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This visit is taking place at a time when US Ambassador Sergio Gore met the Foreign Minister last week.

According to the information given by the Ministry of External Affairs, S Jaishankar will be on a tour of America from 2 to 4 February. He will participate in the Critical Minerals Ministerial Meeting being organized in America. This meeting has been called by America’s Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio. This meeting will focus on strategic cooperation in supply chain resilience, clean energy transition and critical minerals. During this tour, S Jaishankar will also hold meetings with senior members of the US government.

Had a meeting with the American Ambassador

Last week, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar met US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore in the national capital New Delhi and discussed many aspects of relations between the two countries. Welcoming Gore, the Foreign Minister expressed confidence that he will help in strengthening relations between India and America. On social media platform X, he wrote- ‘Pleased to meet US Ambassador Sergio Gore in New Delhi. In our conversation many aspects of our partnership were discussed. Welcomed him and expressed confidence that he will help in strengthening India-US relations.

Which issues will be discussed?

Jaishankar had met the US Congressional delegation comprising Mike Rogers, Adam Smith and Jimmy Patronis along with Sergio Gore in New Delhi on January 25. During this, both sides discussed strengthening the relations between the two countries, developments in the Indo-Pacific region and the Ukraine dispute. Earlier, he had also had a telephonic conversation with US Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio on January 13. The two leaders reviewed key areas of cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, including civil nuclear energy, trade negotiations and regional security. After this, S Jaishankar wrote on X that trade, essential minerals, nuclear cooperation, defense and energy were discussed. Agreed to stay in touch on these and other issues.

On the phone, Rubio congratulated India on implementing the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy Bill for the Transforming India Bill. Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department Tommy Pigott said that this is a recent law, which is part of India’s Nuclear Energy Framework.
