Lawrenceville: A man opened fire on police who came for questioning at a hotel near Atlanta on Sunday, killing one policeman and seriously injuring another.

Lawrenceville: A Hindu police officer was murdered in Atlanta. He had gone to a nearby hotel for questioning along with his fellow policeman. The person present here opened fire on the police. In this incident, one policeman died and another was seriously injured. Officials said the accused in the firing was also shot by a police officer and is undergoing treatment. The police chief said that the incident occurred on Sunday morning near Stone Mountain, about 40 kilometers north-east of Atlanta.

A person had told on phone that someone was committing fraud or forgery to get a room in the hotel, after which the police reached there. He told that the accused called the police to his room. “They began to talk to him about the incident when the suspect suddenly pulled out a gun and fired shots at our Gwinnett County Police officers,” McClure said. McClure said that officer Pradeep Tamang died in the hospital. Tamang, a native of Nepal, had joined the police department only last year.
