Led by Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings young star Ayush Mather, the India U-19 team is unbeaten in the tournament so far. After defeating USA, Bangladesh and New Zealand in the group stage, India proved its strength by defeating Zimbabwe and arch-rivals Pakistan by a large margin in the Super Six stage.
India topped the Super Six Group 2 and secured the last four. England also qualified in this group but they have to finish below India in the points list. India is seen as one of the contenders for the title due to consistent performance.
On the other hand, Afghanistan U-19 team also gave an eye-catching performance. In Super Six Group 1, they lost to Sri Lanka but got a big win against Ireland. On the back of a strong net run rate, they overcame Sri Lanka to reach the semi-finals. Afghans gained confidence after defeating West Indies, South Africa and Tanzania in the group stage.
