According to the reports of American intelligence agencies, serious level corruption has come to light in the People’s Liberation Army of China.
The report claimed that some of China’s missiles were filled with water instead of fuel, while many missile silos built in western China were covered with lids that did not allow the missiles to come out properly at the time of launch.
These revelations raised questions on China’s military capabilities. Due to this corruption, Xi Jinping has made radical changes in the PLA’s rocket force. PLA’s rocket force is considered the backbone of China’s nuclear power, whose top leadership has been removed by Jinping. According to American assessment, corruption within the army has weakened confidence in China’s actual combat capability and has also dealt a blow to Xi Jinping’s dream of making China the world’s number 1 army by 2049.

Since Xi Jinping came to power in 2013, military officers have been removed from their posts in several rounds. On January 24, China’s Defense Ministry officially announced that General Zhang Youxia and General Liu Zhenli were being investigated for serious indiscipline and law violations. Among them, Zhang Youxia was very close to Xi Jinping. Many experts were surprised by the action against him. PLA’s official newspaper PLA Daily clearly stated that no area will be left untouched in the fight against corruption and no relaxation will be given.
