According to Ayurveda physician Dr. Vipin Singh, Chakor plant is very beneficial in diabetes, cough, throat infection and skin diseases. The decoction of its leaves provides relief from cough with mucus. Consuming the juice of the leaves is beneficial in case of persistent cold or cough. It can also be used in times of throat swelling or infection.
Use in skin diseases
The use of chakor seeds and leaves is considered effective in skin diseases. In case of ringworm, itching or rashes, grinding the seeds and applying it on the affected area with curd provides relief. Consumption of juice of leaves and seeds is also beneficial for diabetic patients. Dr. Singh also clarified that any Ayurvedic medicine should not be used without doctor’s advice.
Chakor provides livelihood to tribal community
Chakor is not only good for health but is also becoming a means of livelihood in tribal areas. Tribal people collect seeds from dry plants and sell them in the market. Its price is around Rs 250-300 per kg, which provides additional income to the tribal society.
