Husband-Wife Pregnancy claim dispute: Recently, a dispute and divorce case between a husband and wife from Madhya Pradesh is in the news. The husband had told the court that he was working in the Indian Army and had come home in October 2015 on the call of his wife. Just four days after his return, his wife told him that she was pregnant. Exactly eight months after this incident, her daughter was born. In such a situation, the court considered the pregnancy in four days as suspicious and justified the husband’s demand for DNA test of the girl child.
Now the question arises that what does medical science say about this? How many days are needed to get pregnant and can pregnancy be confirmed in a test four days after husband and wife meet?
about this Dr. Sunita Mittal, former HOD of AIIMS Gynecology and Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Fortis Memorial Research Institute. Referring to medical science, he has told very important things.
Dr. Sunita says that one day is enough to get pregnant, but then she asks that if the husband and wife met in October 2015 and the woman confirmed the pregnancy only after four days, and after 8 months a daughter was also born, then this is possible only if it is known when and how many days before this the husband had met his wife? If the husband had not been seen for a month or two or more, then according to medical science it cannot be true that the child was the husband’s.
She says, the second most important thing is that if husband and wife have physical relations, then pregnancy can be confirmed only after at least 10 days. No matter how advanced the test is, pregnancy cannot be detected before 10 days after intercourse. Whereas if she is talking about period then it will be missed only after a few more days.
‘Pregnancy occurs only when fertilization occurs by sperm. After fertilization, the zygote remains in the tube for two days, after that it remains in the uterus for two-three days and then it implants only after 4-5 days. Then the period is missed only after 10 days of completion of this process. If we talk about very advanced pregnancy test, then pregnancy can be detected even before the period is missed, but still after intercourse, it takes 10 days for pregnancy to occur and be detected. Therefore, how the woman came to know that she was pregnant in 4 days is quite surprising.
Dr. Sunita says that unless it is found that the husband had met his wife shortly before the stated date, then this pregnancy is doubtful and perhaps this is the reason why the court has accepted the demand for DNA test.
Do such cases come like this?
Dr. Sunita says that yes, such cases are being seen often. When a girl becomes pregnant while in a live-in relationship and in such a situation, either the couple gets married in a hurry or the marriage takes place somewhere else, then the husband is told that this is his child. Whereas it belongs to someone else.
