Kolkata: The Pakistan Cricket Board has withdrawn from the decision not to play the group stage match against India in the ICC T20 World Cup. PCB said that on Sunday, February 15, Colombo R. A pathetic request has come from the Bangladesh Cricket Board to participate in the T20 World Cup match against India at the Premadasa Stadium.
After Bangladesh refused to play matches in India citing security reasons, after the ICC refused to move their matches from India and Bangladesh pulled themselves out of the tournament, BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul thanked Pakistan for supporting Bangladesh. BCB President Aminul met ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja and Naqvi of Pakistan in Lahore. During the meeting, the Pakistan board put several conditions, including playing a bilateral series with India and shaking hands with the team’s players on the field. The ICC rejected all their claims. Interestingly, Naqvi put all the blame for the U-turn on Bangladesh during the auction of Pakistan Super League franchise Multan Sultans in Rawalpindi on Monday.
When Naqvi was asked if he had accepted all his demands from the ICC, the answer was that we did not do all this for ourselves. He said, “Look, there was a request from Bangladesh not to boycott the T20 World Cup match against India. Please play this match.”
