Calcutta : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has backed away from its decision not to play against India in the ICC T20 World Cup. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla responded to this on Tuesday. On Monday night, the Pakistan government changed their stance and announced that they will field the match against India.

Earlier in the meeting, the ICC said that no sanctions will be imposed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for not touring India and not participating in the 20-team competition.

A two-member ICC delegation met PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi and BCB chief Aminul Islam at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. There, several claims were presented before the ICC. When the ICC confirmed that no sanctions would be imposed on Bangladesh and that they would be given the right to host an ICC event before 2031, the Pakistan government officially announced their decision.

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla addressed reporters on Tuesday morning and praised the ICC’s leadership. Shukla said, “I am very happy with the outcome of the discussions initiated by the ICC delegation. The way the ICC Deputy Chairman and representatives took the matter forward by going to Lahore and talking to the Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board is commendable. A good and amicable solution has been worked out by prioritizing the importance of cricket.”
