According to others, he could not make full use of the golden opportunity he got.
Samson’s chance came in this match as opener Abhishek Sharma fell ill before the match. After a poor performance in the five-match T20I series against South Africa, Samson fell behind left-handed batsman Ishan Kishan. Hence it was an important opportunity for him to prove himself for the future.
Sanju Samson started the innings without any pressure. He hit a great six off the first ball. Ben followed this up with two more sixes and a four against Shikongo for 21 off just 7 balls at a strike rate of 300. However, a slow ball aimed at Shikongo’s stumps in the last ball of the second over of the innings confused him and he was caught at deep mid-wicket.
