Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that his government has stopped almost all windmills i.e. wind energy projects in the country. He described wind energy as the most expensive energy and said his administration was trying to prevent new wind projects from moving forward. During a conversation with reporters at the White House, Trump said that we are trying to make sure that this does not happen and we have stopped almost all the windmills in this country. This is the most expensive energy you can get. He also claimed that most of the wind turbines installed in America are imported from abroad.

Trump said- ‘Almost all of these are made in China, a little in Germany, but mostly in China. According to him, this causes economic loss to America and the domestic industry does not benefit. The US President criticized wind energy projects, saying that they harm natural beauty and farms. He said, ‘We are planting these in our fields, due to which the fields are getting damaged and birds are dying.’ Trump described wind turbines as an “eyesore” and said people don’t like them.

Why did Trump become the enemy of windmills?

  1. Trump also said that his government is trying to cancel some contracts received from the previous government. He said that we have got some such contracts which have already progressed a lot. We are trying to eliminate them for several reasons.
  2. He claimed that some wind energy projects could pose a threat to military security and airplanes. Trump said that this is a threat to military security and also to the airlines. However, he did not give any detailed information in support of these claims.
  3. Trump expressed hope that no new wind project will be started during his tenure. He said that I hope that not a single new project will be built during my administration. His statements come as part of his broader stance of supporting fossil fuels and relaxing climate policies.

Wind energy increased a lot in last 10 years

It is noteworthy that wind energy has expanded rapidly in America in the last decade. It is supported by federal tax exemptions and policies of many states. The renewable energy sector has also become a major part of global competition, with China holding a strong position in many parts of the supply chain. Changes in America’s climate and energy policies may also impact global investment, technology and renewable energy markets.
