Cape Canaveral: Four new astronauts have reached the International Space Station to replace their colleagues who returned to Earth prematurely due to health reasons. SpaceX on Saturday sent a team of American, French and Russian astronauts from Cape Canaveral and a day later these passengers reached their destination. Last month, NASA recalled astronauts from the International Space Station due to health problems, which was the first time in the 65-year history of human spaceflight.

had to return due to health problems

Last summer, SpaceX sent four astronauts, one of whom suffered serious health problems and had to return early. This left only three members in the expedition – one American and two Russians. In these circumstances, NASA had to stop its spacewalk and its mission. NASA’s Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, France’s Sophie Adenot and Russia’s Andrei Fedyayev will stay in space for eight to nine months.

What do these astronauts do?

Marine biologist Mir and former military pilot Fedyayev have already gone to space. During her maiden voyage in 2019, Mir participated in the first all-women space mission. Military helicopter pilot Adenot is the second French woman to fly in space. Hathaway is a captain in the US Navy. When the space capsule docked with the station 277 miles (446 kilometers) above, Adenot said ‘Bonzo’. A few hours later, the hatches opened and the seven astronauts hugged each other and shook hands.
