Jeffrey Epstein scandal: Even years after the death of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, new stories of his crimes are shocking the world. Recently, a trove of documents released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has revealed shockingly that Epstein took advantage of the loopholes in the US immigration system to trap many foreign women. To keep these women in America, Epstein resorted to fake marriages, student visas and admission in prestigious institutions like Columbia University.

The most prominent face of this entire game has emerged as Epstein’s girlfriend Karina Shuliak. In 2013, Shuliak was under great stress regarding her visa status. To solve this, Epstein hatched a conspiracy that surprised even legal experts. Shuliak married Jennifer, an American citizen. Interestingly, Jennifer was already part of Epstein’s network. After this marriage, Shuliak got a green card and became an American citizen in 2018. As soon as he got citizenship, he divorced Jennifer. This entire marriage was done only on paper to deceive the immigration officials.

US student visa abuse

The documents show that Epstein used his influence to get Shuliak into Columbia University’s dental school as a transfer student. Shuliak, who came from Belarus, did not have a complete degree, yet she got admission. When there was a problem with his visa status, university officials emailed him to assure him that ‘everything was fine.’

Connection of big names and influential people

Behind the scenes, Epstein pressured Shuliak’s student visa to be reinstated by writing emails to top lawyers and influential people. Many high-profile names have also emerged in these files. Epstein contacted British investor Ian Osborne for Shuliak’s visa. Osborne claimed to have lawyers who had connections to the highest levels of the Immigration and Naturalization Service. The names of former Obama administration White House Counsel Greg Craig and current Homeland Security Secretary Ali Mayorkas are also mentioned in the email.

Many files related to Jeffrey Epstein have gone missing.

Sharan’s gamble was also played

Although there has been no evidence of any direct involvement of Mayorkas or Craig in this case, it is clear that Epstein was using these big names to clear his path. When it became difficult to reinstate his student visa, lawyers advised Epstein that Shuliak’s overstaying could cause trouble. After this, Epstein considered choosing the path of political asylum. He asked his lawyers whether pursuing an asylum case would be safer than a student visa. All this was being done only so that the women whom he wanted to control could not go out of America.

These revelations show how a criminal, on the basis of money and influence, had turned the world’s most stringent immigration system into a toy. Fake marriages and fake educational admissions were part of a larger network through which Epstein exploited women. Many people, like Osborne, have now regretted any association with Epstein, but the files remain a big question mark for the US administration.
