Tension increased in Iran and America.
Washington: A major military step can be taken amid increasing tension between America and Iran. According to CNN news, sources said that the US Army is fully prepared to attack Iran by this weekend (by February 22), although President Donald Trump has not yet taken the final decision. Sources said that the White House has been informed that if the order is received, the US Army can take action within a few hours. In the last few days, there has been a huge increase in American air and naval power in the Middle East. The world’s most modern aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford can reach the area.
Deal could not be made between Iran and America
American fighter jets and refueling tanker planes deployed in Britain are being sent to the Middle East. A source said, ‘The President is seriously considering this issue. He is listening to both arguments for and against military action. On Tuesday, indirect talks took place between representatives of Iran and America in Geneva for about three and a half hours. Iran said that some ‘guiding principles’ have been agreed upon, but the American side says that many issues are yet to be clearly discussed. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt said diplomacy is Trump’s first choice, but military options are also on the table. He refused to announce any deadline.
Nuclear pressure increased on Iran
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Israel on February 28 and meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel continues to take a tough stance regarding Iran’s nuclear program. On the other hand, satellite images have indicated that Iran is further strengthening its nuclear bases. Many important sites are being covered with a thick layer of concrete and soil to protect against possible air attacks.
What will Trump decide?
At present, President Trump has not publicly stated a clear target as to what his ultimate objective would be in case of an attack. He has only said that Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Political analysts believe that the coming few days will be very important. If concrete progress is not made in the talks, the Middle East could move towards a major military conflict. At the same time, if diplomacy is successful then war can be averted at the last moment.
